Dr Edward Naessens
Dr Edward Naessens, Programme Coordinator, Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery, RCSI University of Medicine, Dublin, Ireland.
Edward leads a dynamic team developing the FLO mCPD™ platform. The project aims to meet the life-long learning needs of nurses, midwives, and allied healthcare professionals. The FLO mCPD app was recently validated as a Minimal Usable Product (MUP). This ground-breaking tool harnesses the power of emerging AI/ML technologies, facilitates the capture and validation of Life-long Learning and CPD activities, and supports the proactive structuring of learning paths. Using a Stakeholder-First approach, the app's centrepiece is a chatbot coaching system that streamlines the CPD process through guided dialogue.
Simultaneously, Edward collaborates with a Faculty Authoring & Curation Team (FACT) comprising clinical subject matter experts to build out a protocol system (AIRDOC) for microlearning and full courses. This initiative aims to significantly reduce time, effort, and costs associated with generating online learning content for nurses, midwives, and healthcare professionals. The AIRDOC™ system, an acronym for AI-assisted rapid development of content, addresses the time and cost challenges associated with generating relevant digital content in an increasing bespoke medical landscape.
Edward, a qualified IT engineer with a background in Mental & Moral Science, brings diverse experiences including roles in healthcare advocacy, IT, and Creative Arts, to generating solutions in the area of ongoing professional training and maintenance of competence (CPD/LLL).
